Sprint Car Ace Steve Smith Sr. Rides Again on Wednesday, August 26 at Lincoln Speedway
Abbottstown, PA (July 20, 2015) — Heads will turn when the legendary machine steered by Broken Arrow, Oklahoma’s Stevie Smith rolls out of the race hauler this coming Friday Night during Williams Grove Speedway’s World of Outlaws Summer Nationals. The Fred Rahmer-owned ride will adorn a retro-styled “Black Bandit” No. 19 paint scheme in the events leading up to Wednesday, August 26 (raindate: August 27) and the Apple Chevrolet “Legends of Central Pennsylvania” event at the Lincoln Speedway.
“We are bringing back the ‘Black Bandit;’ seeing it in the garage makes me feel like I’m in a time warp.” said Rahmer. “It’s a great way for us to honor Stevie and his dad and it gets us excited for the ‘Legends’ race.”
While Stevie Smith will pilot the car this weekend, it will be Steve Smith Sr. behind the wheel at the “Legends” event. The patriarch of the Smith racing family, Steve Sr. holds more than 200 victories at Central Pennsylvania racetracks, including 150 at the Lincoln Speedway – but winning won’t be an easy task, as drivers like Doug Wolfgang, Steve Stambaugh, Lynn Paxton, Keith Kauffman, Cris Eash, Kenny Adams, Billy Pauch, Todd Shaffer, Steve Siegel and Bobby Weaver have their sights set on victory.
Fred Rahmer Promotions and Apple Chevrolet of York, PA are presenting the “Legends of Central Pennsylvania” event, on Wednesday, August 26 (Raindate: August 27) as a tribute to this region’s colorful Sprint Car history. Driving greats from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s will compete in 410 Sprint Cars one more time, with heat races and a special 20 lap feature. Also on the card is an invitation only $10,000 winner-takes-all Shootout— featuring six of the nation’s top Sprint Car stars—as well as full program of 358 Sprint Cars.
Much like Smith and “The Black Bandit,” all of the legends will compete in modern day cars with graphics similar to the machines they made famous.
“The Black Bandit” No. 19 sees action this coming weekend for the World of Outlaws Summer Nationals at the Williams Grove Speedway, and will head west for the Knoxville Nationals before Steve Smith Sr. takes the wheel on August 26.
Race team sponsors include: Miller Brothers Chevrolet, Wege Pretzels of Hanover, Aran Trading, Pioneer Pole Buildings, Ken’s Tire, Specialty Rigging, Spectra Oil
Fans are encouraged to participate by writing-in their nominations of Shootout participants through a special section on FredRahmerPromotions.com. Write-in voting will start on Sunday, July 26.
Rounding out the event will be a complete show for the popular 358 Sprint Cars.
The action takes place on Wednesday, August 26 (raindate: August 27). General Admission Adult tickets are $20, Students 12-17 are $15, and Children 11 years old and under are FREE!
Tickets are currently available for purchase at Lincoln Speedway events. Pre-purchased ticket holders will be granted early access to the Legends pit area.
